Making Waves is an informative discussion exploring how music stimulates neural connectivity, enhances autobiographical memory recall, uplifts mood, boosts engagement, and fosters improved communication in people living with dementia.
Songwriter, musician, author, cook, Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health Mike Hanrahan predominantly came to the fore through his highly established profile in the music arena. He has performed with Stocktons Wing, Ronnie Drew, Eleanor Shanley, Maura O’Connell, Finbar Furey and Leslie Dowdall. His memoir, Beautiful Affair, A journey in music, food and friendship was shortlisted for the 2019 An Post awards. He is currently writing a book of short stories on dementia. Mike is an ambassador for Bealtaine Creative Arts in Ageing and Clare Age Friendly promoting equity in ageing.
Dr. Eva McMullan-Glossop is best known through her MINdDS project (Music as an Intervention in the Neurological development of children with Down Syndrome) and miniMINdDS, which explores speech development through song and sign.
